The World is a cloud

Recently I figured out how the world works. It is very simple: The world is a coud. (Text now available in English, translation by Anja Tachler, painting by Jim Avignon).

5land @ birthday party

Berliner Gazette turns 8 and throws a party. They asked a number of Berlin artist friends to help out with art for the event: This is the premiere of 5land, the first noninteractive Korsakow-Installation ever. Also two shorts from my archive will be screened.

Talk in Cyprus

Film is a lie. Because film is linear. The course of a film is like the flight path of a cruise missile. It has a goal. Film claims that there is just one road one can take in life. But there are many roads. How can you tell through film without the lie of linearity?

Exhibition [Vergessene Fahnen]

Exhibition Vergessene Fahnen (Forgotten Flags)
by Florian Thalhofer and Juliane Henrich
30 March - 11 May 2007
Opening Friday 30 March 18:00

Exhibition with an interactive road movie concerning the need for pride and the fear of symbols. During the 2006 World Cup football, Germans put out their national flag en masse for the first time in years. When the flags were still fluttering six months later, Florian Thalhofer got scared. He tackled his fear with curiosity.

During Vergessene Fahnen we will serve Weißwurst and Bavarian Beer and organise sausage making workshops for vegetarians and a Nina Hagen fanclub night. Opening hours Wednesday, Thursday and Fridaynight from 18.00 to 23.00.

Location: Mediamatic, Post CS Bulding, ground floor, Oosterdokskade 5, Amsterdam

www.mediamatic.net

PS: [small world] will also be shown. Beer and sausages directly imported from Schwandorf (www.wolf-wurst.de). The beer ("Das wichtigste Bier auf der Welt") is a real sensation ("Wir liefern nie weiter als wie 150km"). Check out their website: www.naabecker.de very sweet, you can find an image of the person answering the phone, but not the number. It's about beer, not business. Logistics taken care of by organization-genius Kristin Maurer.

[7sons] - even more beautyful!

February 5, 2007
[7sons] is a Korsakow-documentary about a trip to the Beduines in the Sinai. Together with Mahmoud Hamdy, an artist in Cairo I went on this trip in 2003. This prize-winning Korsakow-film is now available in H.264-codec. This means much better image quality. Check it out!

Forgotten Flags

January 18, 2007
A sea of black, red and gold. The 2006 Soccer World Cup changed the way Germans perceived their own country. What is left over half a year later? Together with Juliane Henrich I traveled 2562 km all over Germany to talk to people that still have a German flag outside their houses. We met astonishing ordinary people with all kinds of different German accents (subtitles in English). Now presented by the Goethe-Instititute as part of the project "Odysseus: A Quest for Europe".
